Sometimes it can
be hard for one to find a short and succinct read that delights and informs.
Such little books are very hard to find. But they do exist!
my partner and I found ourselves in a bookstore and came across a delightful
little work by David Bader, which condenses one hundred ‘great’ literary works
into haiku. We then had a most enjoyable time, while waiting for our lunch to
be served, reading them to one another and trying to guess what books they
were.
One Hundred Great Books in Haiku is
exactly what its title suggests. Following a humorous foreward by Bader, it’s a
collection of original haikus that hilariously summarise a bunch of literary
classics.

The overall
reading experience is one of absolute delight, uplift, and warm chuckling. Not
only are the poems very funny and entertaining, the book also inspires one to
grab these great works from the shelf and become absorbed.
For the witty
literate, I would highly recommend One
Hundred Great Books in Haiku.
